Del Barrio: Our first international production will be a feature film co-produced with Kapow set to premiere in 2025

Hugo Coya, manager and general director of Del Barrio Producciones: Our first film will be a comedy with dramatic elements
The internationalization process of Del Barrio Producciones was initiated four years ago with the incorporation of Hugo Coya into Michelle Alexander’s production company. It will bear its first fruits in 2025, with the release of its first feature film, a co-production with Argentina. The company is also working on a second film in partnership with a Chilean production company and a streaming telenovela.
“Our first film will be a comedy with dramatic elements, co-produced with Kapow from Argentina,” announced Hugo Coya, manager and general director of Del Barrio Producciones.
The film will premiere in the second half of 2025, first in Peruvian theaters and later in other territories. Del Barrio is negotiating with the company that will distribute its first feature film.
“The Peruvian audience is increasingly going to the cinema and discovering Peruvian films. We believe our contribution to cinema will be this first film, first in the domestic market and then internationally,” noted Coya.
Kapow and América TV, the channel that is now a partner of the Argentine production company and an ally of Del Barrio for years, will co-produce the telenovela, which will begin pre-production between February and March 2025. “I call it premium because it is designed for a streaming platform, although it will also premiere on América TV for the Peruvian audience.”
