As part of a revamp, the channel NBC Universo is now called Universo. “This new Universo logo raises our own Latin identity in the portfolios of the diverse TV networks, it is easier to remember and it is in Spanish,” expressed the signal in an official statement.
According to the channel, 2016 was a decisive year, when it was positioned as the highest-growth cable entertainment channel in Spanish in primetime. They highlight that while Universo continues establishing its identity among cable signals in Spanish, “we felt that our image/brand/look also had to evolve to identify better with our TV viewers.”

Another reason for the change is that the channel´s programming is aimed at the Hispanic audience in the US “therefore, we felt that it was important to simplify and establish our identity as Universo, since it connects better with the Spanish-speaking TV viewers. This name doesn’t lead to confusion and expresses clearly and robustly that our programming is aimed at the Latino audience,” mentioned the channel.
