Romina Rosado, EVP and general manager of Streaming Hispano at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, and her team are developing for Peacock more than 50 projects that include scripted and a lot of unscripted -from formats such as dating reality shows, unitary, to news and sports formats in the documentary area- for 2022, 2023 and 2024.

“We are lucky to have a production machine such as the studio led by Marcos Santana and Karen Barroeta; Telemundo Streaming Studios with Juan Ponce, including the Telemundo part. Where we see that it is better to develop it on Telemundo, we will, but we also have plans – which we will announce in the very near future – of how we can develop, together with new Hispanic creators, in the US and outside the US, different formats. Discovering the next generation of creators,” said Rosado.

Peacock is the priority and this is going to become evident in the next 12 months. “It is a matter of scale.” She said that there are already greenlit projects that will be announced at the end of September and others in the rest of 2021. “We will go on a crescendo in 2022, a very important year for NBCUniversal because we have the Winter Olympics in Beijing, the Super Bowl, and the World Cup that will bring millions of people to the Peacock ecosystem. We want to have a very robust content selection for all audiences at that time.”

She added that they plan to launch a developing lab to bring in some of these creators who are trying to get their projects off the ground and present them at Peacock. Also to develop new content that reflects more the reality of Hispanics in the United States. “I believe that for there to be diversity, there must be diversity in the writers, producers, the people who are developing, and I mean diversity, both in gender and in the background,” she concluded.
