Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 18 de agosto de 2016

Eli Velázquez, executive VP at Telemundo Deportes, pointed out from the IBC in Rio de Janeiro that the Hispanic audience had responded positively to the coverage of the Olympics.”We have seen growth in the ratings of our networks and our digital platforms versus similar broadcast times in the last 4 calendar weeks,” he told PRODU in the facilities NBC has in the International Broadcast Center.”I want to highlight that the Hispanic audience is consuming these Olympic games in a different way. In digital media we have witnessed that streaming has grown and has had a boom in numbers that we had never seen before.”Regarding the sales of these Games, although he didn’t reveal any figures, he indicated that they had sold more than ever. As for the synergy between him and Peter Blacker, who leads the network’s digital business, he expressed: “Peter and I have the same opinion: consumers must have the ability to choose the content at the moment he wants to consume it, particularly on live events. Likewise, TV viewers as users want to be part of the conversation with us. The model now is to have a conversation with the audience through our platforms.”He also highlighted the synergy and closeness they had with NBC since the 2004 Olympics, helping each other. He opened for the cameras of PRODU the celebrated studio they set up jointly on the beach of Copacabana with one of the most spectacular views of Rio.
