Venezuelan writer Ariana Godoy: Preparing an adaptation of my web novel Sigue Mi Voz with Wattpad

The Venezuelan writer Ariana Godoy is working on a new project with Wattpad, based on her web novel Sigue Mi Voz / Follow My Voice. She is behind the story Through My Window of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, produced by Nostromo Pictures for Netflix, and that will be premiering the sequel Through my Window: Across the Sea on June 23.
“Follow My Voice is a very personal story, which deals with mental health, depression, and anxiety, it features a girl suffering from agoraphobia who has not left her house for 70 days. It is a very beautiful story and I am very excited that Wattpad WEBTOON Studios is in the process of developing it because many can relate to this disorder and it could help many people,” said Godoy.
She reported that currently, she is writing the script of Follow My Voice with Inés Pintor and Pablo Santidrián.
Godoy began with Wattpad from Venezuela in 2009, writing in English, and since 2015 she has focused on Spanish. “This success has been very unexpected. I have never been the type of person that says ‘I have a dream written in stone and I am going to achieve it.’ Everything happened very organically and in fact, my family didn’t know that I wrote until I had my first contract to publish. It has been 10 years of a lot of work. I used to have a full-time job and writing was just for short periods. I feel that all that sacrifice of a tiring nine- hours job as a teacher has ended and finally is paying off”.
Asked about the success of Through My Window, Godoy said that the story was written chapter by chapter on Wattpad. “The readers were alongside the creation of the story, they lived chapter by chapter on the Wattpad platform and from there it went to Netflix. For female readers, being part of creating something so big that reached Netflix, made them feel an attachment to the story.”
