Heineken and Benicio Del Toro Welcome Holidays With a New Spot

Benicio del Toro protagoniza el comercial navideño

Just in time for the Holiday season, Heineken launched the third commercial -Traditions- of their global marketing campaign There’s More Behind The Star, created by Publicis and featuring award-winning Actor, Benicio Del Toro. In the new spot, Del Toro pretends to like all the gifts he receives from his family, inviting viewers to discover with humor the authentic heritage and history of an iconic, family-owned brand by taking an honest look at the age-old tradition of giving. “With this commercial, our family invites yours to take a moment, have a laugh, and enjoy Heineken with your loved ones this season” said Ralph Rijks, VP at Heineken. The campaign debuted in February 2016, and it was launched in 70+ markets globally in both English and Spanish, focused on the brand’s rich heritage and quality. The commercials were created by Publicis Worldwide and filmed in a variety of locations in Barcelona. This is the first time the Oscar winner Del Toro has served as a brand spokesperson, and in a behind the scenes video posted on YouTube he said: “I’ve been a fan of the beer, and it was an honor to be part of this campaign.” According to the brand, Del Toro ejects wit and humor to any character. The launch of this third commercial comes with a series of consumer promotions. Visitors to the Heineken website will be able to send comical holiday e-cards, entering them to win a $100 Uber gift card, and also using the Shazam app, consumers can scan their Heineken holiday packs to seamlessly enter a retail experience that offers holiday savings.
