The recent entry of Edye to Izzi de México, the HITN’s SVOD for preschoolers, increases the platform’s subscriber base in Latin America and the US Hispanic to 3.5 million. “The respect and influence that Televisa has in the region are undeniable. The fact that Televisa’s largest operator recognizes Eddy as a platform with the quality to be among its content is something that gives us great pleasure and that we want to leverage on,” said Guillermo Sierra, director of Television and Digital Services at HITN. He added that in Mexico, Edye is on almost all the operators, only a few are missing but they have advanced conversations with them.

Mega Cable, Claro, Dish, and now Izzi, distribute the platform. Mega Cable was one of the first that, together with VTR de Chile, decided to place Edye as part of their basic content packages that reach a very large number of subscribers. “It’s a great support,” he said.

Edye is about to be launched in Brazil. “We are very excited. Brazil represents almost half of the industry in our region. The service has been very well received by the operators, they like it a lot. We even have plans in Brazil to do other things that are moving very fast,” he said.

The service will also be releasing soon a series of games designed by Maximiliano Vaccaro, VP of Digital Services at HITN/Edye, having Rey, Edye’s mascot, as the central character.

They have also been adding books and series about meditation, with very slow videos. “We are trying to create content that goes beyond entertainment video. The future of Edye is to become a great support portal for children and parents, which is complemented by a large amount of additional content,” emphasized Sierra.

They are also working on a fully educational preschool project in English, in conjunction with PlayGround by Carlos Corona (Pablo Corona’s brother). Corona, who runs a kindergarten in New York, began producing tutorials for the children during the pandemic. The idea is to create a segment on Edye titled ‘Learn in English’ with Edye and start testing this type of content. “This will be part of our launch in Brazil,” added Sierra.
