Maggie Salas-Amaro, Director of Canela Kids: “Our goal is to position SuperEllas, Plaza Aventuras, and ¡Hola Romi! in the U.S. Hispanic market and Latin America”
Maggie Salas-Amaro, Director of Canela Kids, shared details about the latest releases under the Aprende con Canela Kids initiative. “We’re kicking off the year with Plaza Aventuras, our co-production with Lingo Plaza, which now has five new episodes.”
These stories focus on well-being and life lessons for children while also highlighting Latin American culture. “After the success of ¡Hola Romi!, we decided to co-produce with Romina Puga and are now launching a new format for kids aged 7 to 9 called ¡Hola Romi! + Canela Kids. It’s a short-format series, about 6 to 8 minutes long, covering topics like space, oceans, and storytelling— all in Romi’s signature style.”
The animated series SuperEllas, nominated for the PRODU Awards last year, returns for its third season in time for International Women’s Month. “We’ll have four new stories in March and four more for Hispanic Heritage Month, in line with Canela Media’s annual celebration,” Salas-Amaro added.
She is actively seeking educational and edutainment content for kids aged 7 to 9 and exploring potential partners to distribute Canela Kids’ originals and co-productions. “Our goal is to position SuperEllas, Plaza Aventuras, and ¡Hola Romi! in the U.S. Hispanic market and Latin America.”
Additionally, Canela Kids is open to all platforms to maximize visibility for its standout programming. “These three shows have attracted a huge audience, with SuperEllas even winning awards. We also want to collaborate with schools across the U.S. to integrate this content as a complement to Dual Language programs.”
