Michel “Micho” Haykal: At Canela Media, we remain committed to investing in technology and strategic alliances

Canela Media announced in Colombia the upcoming release of a new version of the Canela.TV app. This update, scheduled for the third quarter of the year, will offer an enhanced user experience and cutting-edge advertising solutions for advertisers. Additionally, new content will represent an opportunity for brands and media agencies looking to connect with multi-target audiences.

In Latin America, the CTV (Connected TV) market has grown significantly due to the wide range of free streaming services. Colombia, in particular, emerges as one of the key markets in the region. According to Comscore, in the country, 9 out of 10 (87%) digital users consume content on free streaming platforms several times a week.

The new Canela.TV app will introduce two new advertising formats:

1. AI-Powered Contextual Advertising. A pioneering format that positions Canela Media as the first company in the region to implement AI-driven contextual advertising. By understanding the emotional context of a scene, the ads are better aligned with the content, more relevant to the viewer, strategically placed, and therefore more effective.

2. Virtual Product Placement. Brands will have alternatives to virtually integrate their products into Canela.TV’s original digital content using AI.

“At Canela Media, we maintain our commitment to continue investing in technology and strategic alliances. The goal is to provide innovative and effective advertising solutions to advertisers. Additionally, we strive to offer quality content that resonates with diverse audiences,” expressed Michel “Micho” Haykal, country manager of Canela Media in Colombia.

These innovations are announced just two months after the recent alliance between Canela Media and Paramount in Latin America. This strategic collaboration merges the commercial offerings of both companies’ free streaming platforms, Canela.TV and Pluto.TV, provides a unique audience reach on a large scale in a one-stop-shop, offering a unique and integrated solution for media agencies and brands.

“The recent strategic alliance between the platforms Canela.TV and Pluto TV mark an important milestone in the digital entertainment landscape. This collaboration allows us to offer brands unprecedented reach and a unique opportunity to reach large-scale audiences incrementally. We are excited to lead this market evolution and look forward to witnessing how this alliance continues to bring significant benefits to advertisers,” highlighted Eric Tourtel, president of Canela Media for Latin America.
