“Society in pandemic has told us that content is almost as important as food. TV has returned to the living room. Content production has been recognized as essential work that cannot be stopped,” said the producer and businessman Secundino Velasco on #PRODUprimetime with Richard Izarra.

Of Asturian origin, Secundino has set milestones in Spain: he made the first infomercial, the first endless drama (soap opera) and the first successful Big Brother, and with digital technology.

He was the founder of Zeppelin Televisión, which he sold to Endemol, and of other ventures. In 2009 he created TOAC, The On-Air Company, with which he currently operates. TOAC acquired the Miami Fashion Week and promotes several formats, such as El Juego de la Oca for the world, La Rueda de la Fortuna for Latin America, and other original realities. Also fiction projects. He is, additionally, a partner of PRODU in the 50-hour PRODU Awards Streaming, which he produced. He is passionate about live shows.

“The pandemic has been a technological accelerator, we have taken a five to ten-year leap in terms of what was coming next. Proof of this has been the PRODU Awards in streaming. TV has changed, OTT platforms have been accelerated, open TV has to think more about direct, about events, they must create different original content because OTTs are getting organized as the first screen.”
