
TelevisaUnivision announces the appointment of Leopoldo Gomez as president of News, effective January 1st, 2026
TelevisaUnivision informs that, after more than 2 years heading Univision News, Daniel Coronell will step down as president of Univision News by mutual agreement on the 31st of the current month.
TelevisaUnivision thanked Coronell for leading its news division. During this time, Univision’s news programming maintained its standing as the most trusted Spanish-language news provider in the United States, with audiences that consistently outperformed competitors. Univision News 24/7 on ViX also recorded significant growth.

Even after stepping down as president two years ago, I never truly left—I remained close as a senior analyst, proud of the mission we share. Throughout his years of experience, Gómez has distinguished himself as a seasoned executive with a proven track record in the largest Spanish-speaking market in the world. He has also been awarded with Mexico’s Premio Nacional de Periodismo on two occasions and is the recipient of the Premio Ondas Iberoamericano de Radio y Television and the Premio Rey de España.
