ESPN: New studios in Mexico to open in March 2015

During a day of activities for clients and commercial partners, ESPN and The Walt Disney Company held their 2014-2015 upfront in Mexico City. At the event, Gerardo Casanova, VP of Disney and ESPN Mexico and Latin America, announced the March 2015 inauguration of the company’s studios in the country. The facilities will broadcast in full HD and for the first time will carry the coverage of the Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. “In March 2015 we’ll inaugurate our TV studio facilities south of Mexico City. It will house four state-of-the-art HD studios that will allow us to convert our TV channels to digital. Our mobile platforms will also benefit from the content that will come out of these facilities. This one of the milestones that summarizes our efforts of the past 10 years,” said Casanova.He also announced the coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where “for the first time in our history we’ll carry it on our screen and on all our digital and mobile platforms in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. We’ll closely follow every event, featuring the best Mexican talent we’ve been able to recruit over the years: journalists and experienced former athletes who make us the sports leaders in the Mexican market today. We’ll feature a lot of Olympics-related material in the coming months.”
