Global Agency: Latin America was a lifesaver for Turkish content ten years ago

Global Agency is celebrating ten years since the arrival of Turkish content in Latin America with the launch of Sara, a remake of The Thousand and One Night, the first Turkish program to arrive in Chile in 2014. “Thanks to that story, a tsunami of Turkish content was unleashed in the region, and since then we have not stopped distributing here and everything indicates that we will continue to do so,” said Iván Sánchez, director of Sales for Latin America at Global Agency.

He explained that at that time (about ten years ago) due to political issues, Turkey had to stop selling its content to the MENA, Middle East, and North Africa region, their primary customers and consumers, and Latin America became a lifesaver for the distribution and commercialization of its audiovisual products.

“For political reasons, we were forced to go to other regions to distribute, and after the arrival of The Thousand and One Night to Latin America, which were our competitors due to many similarities in our content, giving a boost and a breathing space to a Turkish industry that was waiting and seeing what could happen if it couldn’t trade with MENA. From there the rest is history, it was a domino effect that seemed for a short time, but it was not like that, currently, we (Turks) are in all the countries of the region with the exception of Cuba,” explained Sánchez.

He also mentioned that Sara is a significant production in Turkey, beyond the story’s strength, because it has been made with higher quality standards than those already implemented in Turkey, and with higher budgets than those that are usually available.
