PRODU spoke with María Kowalski, director of Content of INTI Network, channel distributed by Alterna’TV, which covers several topics on health and well-being.The signal currently airs in Latin America but it’s expected to enter the U.S. Hispanic market in the first quarter of 2014.“INTI means sun in the Quechua language. Our programming seeks to empower our viewers to reconnect with themselves and with their surroundings,” said Kowalski. She said the channel’s programming has been divided by day of the week: Mondays are dedicated to well-being, Tuesdays feature travel, Wednesdays focus on awareness, Thursdays feature lifestyle, with shows like Gurú Modelo; Fridays have shows about art and inspiration, Saturdays are a recap of the best of the week, and Sundays are dedicated to the family with documentaries.Kowalski said the programming is split 50% original productions and 50% third-party acquisitions.“We’re producing a lot in Latin America. It’s not easy to acquire content, especially in Spanish. We’ve dubbed shows from a channel that’s half Indian and half American. We have content from the Albatros Media Foundation, with which we’re also co-producing a show entitled Saberes Milenarios,” she added.Another original production is Destinos Yoga, a show that visits Latin American countries with lots of nature and iconic places like Cuzco, the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and Mexico. The channel will also produce in India, the cradle of yoga.“Besides the shows about natural cooking we’re producing in Ecuador, we’re doing a show we’re very proud of named Sana Tu Vida. It is based on Louise L. Hay’s holistic philosophy, and it’s the first program in Spanish based on this trend,” added Kowalski.
