Artificial intelligence, FAST channels, and the crossover of audiences between linear TV and digital platforms are some of the topics Guillermo Franco, a member of the Multimedios Steering Committee, discussed. He emphasized that the company aims to boost the audience for its Milenio Televisión signal thanks to a recent technical migration from the VHF band to UHF, as well as the use of AI in editorial processes.
“Among our latest updates is a recent analysis of our Milenio Televisión channel, using all the data provided by Ibope regarding pay TV, combined with access to platforms like Samsung TV Plus, Roku, YouTube, and our own streaming service. With all this data, we convert hours into ratings and vice versa over three days, which has shown that by the last quarter of 2025, the viewership of this signal will include both audiences watching via FAST/streaming platforms and those watching linear TV through terrestrial and satellite pay TV. This demonstrates that we can no longer focus on a single platform; we need to be present both on cable and emerging platforms,” he commented, noting that this crossover is happening much faster than the time FAST has existed in the industry.
Regarding Multimedios, Franco shared that they recently adjusted their entertainment programming block airing in Mexico City, integrating a new show called Insólito: “In this city, we are celebrating five years and achieved a technical modification with the IFT, migrating from the VHF band (Very High Frequency) to the UHF band (Ultra High Frequency), which allows for greater household penetration. With these two factors combined, we expect to see a rise in audience; the channel is performing well, with strong time slots such as the morning block.”
He explained that topics widely discussed today are highly useful, including FAST distribution and artificial intelligence, which continues to grow: “We already have several AI-driven processes implemented in our newsrooms, saving us a lot of time. We have multiple initiatives that will be rolled out this year and next, aimed at automating repetitive and mechanical tasks through AI, such as generative databases that provide results with the help of this technology.”
