One Movie One Film, owned by David Impelluso, reached an alliance with Spanglish Studios to offer options to produce films and series in Miami and other regions of the US with competitive budgets or similar to those available in Latin America.

To do this, One Movie One Film has partnered with Tony Cortés, SVP of Cachita Universal Studios (former Telemundo Studios in Doral), to offer large studios and office space for productions.

Impelluso, CEO of One Movie One Film, explained that his in-house company has the equipment, the cameras, and the staff to keep budgets lower, so there is no need to take all the work abroad. He feels that projects flee due to budget.

“Spanglish Studios is proud of its partnership with One Movie One Film and their state-of-the-art lighting, camera, and production expertise, along with the spacious 12,000 square foot, 1,200 amp, 22-foot high grid facilities Cachita Universal Studios, increasing the film production prospect in Miami,” added Gustavo Aparicio, managing director of Spanglish Movies.

Impelluso said the alliance aims both to produce their projects and to make themselves known as a production house that offers services to third parties in Miami. “There are a lot of tax credit opportunities in several states – not just Atlanta or New Orleans – that can lower production costs.” He added that although no tax incentives are offered currently in Miami-Dade, conversations are underway to bring them back to the area.

Currently, the One Movie One Film and Spanglish Studio’s alliance is producing two film projects: Ojalá Algún Día me Quieras and Cinco Veces Adiós.

Ojalá Algún Día me Quieras (90 minutes) is a family story with a spiritual and aspirational message, in which a father, involved in gambling and alcohol, is rescued by his teenage daughter. It is in pre-production, and filming will begin in Miami in October. Starring Fabián Ríos and Julie Ferreira, Lucía Ríos (Fabián Ríos’s daughter) plays the role of the teenage daughter.

They expect to shoot Cinco Veces Adiós at the end of the year, and it includes five fictional stories with five different casts. The film is estimated to last about 100 minutes or more.

They are talking with Spanglish Movies about the possibility of its theatrical release. “Spanglish Movies is one of the most important film distributors in the Caribbean and the US,” said Impelluso.

He mentioned that he has been related to Gustavo (Aparicio) for many years. “We are linking the two production possibilities to offer a real option to avoid the projects moving to Latin America by making the budgets work and leveraging on a large studio like Cachita Universal Studios,” he pointed out.

He recalled that at the end of 2021, they did the movie Millonario Sin Amor with Fabián Ríos, Kiara Liz, Ximena Córdoba, Pablo Llanos, and Julie Ferreira in Miami for Pantaya (now ViX). “That movie had a very tight budget but worked very well,” he concluded.
