Zorro Screening

As announced a few days ago, the Zorro series was screened in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals, opening Mipcom 2023. The series, produced by Secuoya Studios, will be distributed internationally by Mediawan Rights, except for Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Latin America, and the US, where Amazon Prime Video owns the transmission rights.

“It is a super high-budget production, more than 40 million for ten 52-minute episodes. We believe it will transcend time, following the legacy of the hero whose story has never been told in Spanish. This Zorro version, made with a great cast of Spanish and Mexicans and with high-quality standards, will go around the world,” said Sergio Pizzolante, president of the Commercial & Distribution division of Secuoya Studios.

Pizzolante noted that the intention from the beginning of the series was always to keep the IP so that, together with Mediawan, both could market it in different windows and for many years. “Many platforms and studios said ‘no’ to us when pitching the project because they wanted the IP, but because we knew how big it can be, we kept looking until we found a great partner in Amazon.”

Among the first international sales announced are screens such as M6 Groupe in France, Mediaset in Italy, TVM in Belgium, RTL in Hungary, RTVE in Spain, and Amazon Prime Video for Spain, Portugal, Andorra, the US, and Latin America.

Starring Miguel Bernardeau, Renata Notni, Dalia Xiuhcoatl, Rodolfo Sancho, and Emiliano Zurita, the series was created by Carlos Portela and directed by Javier Quintas, José Luis Alegría and Jorge Saavedra.

Miguel Bernardeau, Renata Notni, and Dalia Xiuhcoatl were at Cannes during the screening, and they offered brief comments about their experience making this remake of Zorro.
