Verizon: Social networks are useful to generate traffic, but monetization is produced with your own video network

According to Jossi Fresco, Regional Director for Latin America at Verizon Digital Media Services, social networks are good to generate traffic for the client to then take that audience to their own platform where it generates revenue and its content is safe.

Fresco gave a talk titled The Future of OTT: How to Increase Your Income With a Service of Your Own Operation, in which he highlighted that 10% of the Internet traffic worldwide circulates through Verizon´s networks. Only last year, 2,500 million hours of video were watched on their networks.

He mentioned, as an example of the potential monthly income for a TV show that on average 80% comes from TVs connected to the Internet, 63% from tablets and 54% from smartphones.

He expressed that operating and being the owner of your own service is a solid and profitable strategy to handle the video business.
