Pierluigi Gazzolo, CEO of ViX, the streaming platform owned by TelevisaUnivision, was the speaker at a keynote at Iberseries & Platino Industria dedicated to the evolution of his company.

He noted that since they launched their premium or paid version a year ago, their challenge has been to make 60 original productions a year, and they exceeded by ten that first year, reaching 70. However, the number decreased to about 50 original productions this year, 20 less than the previous year.

“They are a little less than the first year, but we will produce many original content. We will focus on melodrama, comedy, reality, and local documentary-type content, on journalistic scandals that we have managed to document with the newscasts of our open television networks,” he explained.

“We are like a baby learning to walk, who has to eat a lot to grow. We have to continue betting on making our content, at the same time as licensing it to be able to offer great programming worthy of the main Spanish-speaking streaming service,” he commented.

Gazzolo mentioned their alliances in the countries where they seek the highest short-term growth for the platform, such as Colombia with RCN, and Peru with a channel to be announced soon. “When it comes to marketing ViX, this model worked a lot for us in Mexico with Televisa and in the US with Univisión, so we are replicating it in other territories.”

He added that they have three content models on their platform: the originals as the main one; the free ViX service where the revenue share takes place and where they share the advertising income with whoever provides the content to the platform and, the third, involves the purchase or acquisition of a ready-made product.
