La Mujer del Diablo by writer Leonardo Padrón will be an important piece of TelevisaUnivision’s ViX+ initial offering that will be launching in the second half of this year. Under the production of Carlos Bardasano, president of W Studios, the telenovela is being shot in 50 locations in Mexico (Hidalgo, Puebla and Morelos, among others), including more than 1,300 extras and using cutting edge cinematography technology. Leading the cast are Carolina Miranda and José Ron.

“It’s a very exciting moment for us, because many things have come to fruition at the same time thanks to ViX. The great story of Leonardo Padrón has brought us so many successes. This is a special story, it has no limits, and this is precisely what a platform like ViX offers us, allowing all the creative juices we have to develop to the maximum: from the writer, the producer, the director and the talent. It is one of the things that, personally, excites me the most, where we are able to do very ambitious things,” said Bardasano.

For Bardasano this type of production would have been a dream at another time. He underlined the ambitious nature of the project.

“We were able to put together a team up to this challenge. I feel that all our previous productions -which have been great- prepared us for this one. We have the highest state-of-the-art cinematographic technology, robust production, and beautiful locations in the entire center of Mexico. The locations can be considered a part of the cast, very typical of Mexican culture, with endearing characters,” he said.

He could not give details of the number of episodes or the time it will take to record, but he admitted that they are less than halfway through filming and that it is “a fairly complex production that will have the time needed to ensure the highest quality.”

He stressed that for Villa Clara, the town where the story takes place, they managed to recreate a favorable environment that reflects many of the typical towns of Mexico. “100% of the locations are real, therefore we have to deal with all the complexities involved in assembling and disassembling the sets, so the residents can continue their business as usual, until we return to continue recording, going to the same process again. It’s a huge logistics job.”

They are very satisfied with the quality of the material they have seen, “not only the image quality, which is comparable to any series on the American market, but also the level of performances, where Carolina Miranda and José Ron have achieved magic on screen.
