Whisky Films has made history by receiving the “Hecho en México” (Made in Mexico) seal from the Ministry of Economy for its short film Harmful Words. This milestone marks the first time an audiovisual production company has been granted this prestigious distinction, which recognizes the creativity, quality, and global influence of the Mexican industry.
The recognition was presented during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Economy Auditorium in Mexico City. The event featured a screening of Harmful Words, a powerful piece that explores the emotional impact of aggressive messaging on social media, reaffirming Whisky Films’ commitment to high-impact social narratives.
The welcoming remarks were delivered by Salma Luévano Luna, Head of the Inclusive Economy Sector, who emphasized the importance of promoting responsible digital coexistence and sensitizing society to the effects of verbal violence in digital environments, particularly among the youth.
“This short film invites us to reflect and understand many things that, for those of us who are trans women, often cost three times as much effort. Reaching a dignified space is not easy,” stated Luévano Luna. “From the Ministry of Economy, delivering this ‘Hecho en México’ certificate carries deep meaning: it represents where we come from and the visibility we must continue to defend. ‘Hecho en México’ is not only for those who manufacture products, but also for those who provide services with love, talent, and effort—like this project, created by young, brave entrepreneurs. Let it be heard loud and clear: what is made in Mexico, is well made.”
