FAST Channel Teleonce América Serving The Puerto Rican Diaspora In The U.S. With Daily Live Content

Analyzing streaming and FAST trends, and the limited amount of FAST channel content focused on Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, TeleOnce in Puerto Rico saw an opportunity to leverage the live daily content it produces and launched the FAST channel TeleOnce América.

The channel, which has been operating since August 2025, targets more than 5 million Puerto Ricans located across different U.S. cities.

“TeleOnce has been on air for three and a half years and we saw that our offering had the quality needed so that not only Puerto Ricans on the island, but also those in the diaspora, could enjoy it, connect with their roots and their culture. So we wanted to find a way to do that, and we came up with this new medium to distribute our programming,” Luani Pellot, VP of Operations and Programming at TeleOnce, told PRODU.

Pellot notes that the FAST channel TeleOnce América is a way to export what they do locally. “We have aimed to ensure the highest quality and also to better help the Puerto Rican public and community communicate, express opinions, and feel heard by a TV channel or media outlet,” she said.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Pellot highlighted that one of the main objectives is to bring the same quality and all locally produced programming to the U.S.

Another objective is to expand the number of platforms carrying TeleOnce América in order to reach every Puerto Rican household in the country.

A further priority is expanding monetization of its content, “recognizing the changes the TV industry is undergoing, where audiences are fragmenting and moving toward streaming and FAST services. TeleOnce, as one of Puerto Rico’s leading channels, wants to be part of this transformation from traditional TV to digital services,” she said.

PROGRAMMING

Asked about the channel’s most popular programs, Pellot pointed to news content and “the interest in staying connected with what is happening in Puerto Rico.” She highlighted its morning show, which continues to grow its audience and has expanded to four hours daily in Puerto Rico. She also noted analysis programs such as the flagship show Jugando Pelota Dura. Another successful program over the past year has been Última Palabra con Alexandra Lúgaro.

She noted that the audience tuning into TeleOnce América remains connected for an average of more than 25 minutes, and “viewership since we launched our channel has increased by more than 122%. Month after month we see that as people learn that we are available on FAST channels and platforms, they continue to join and remain part of the TeleOnce América audience.”

She added that they are evaluating new proposals and formats. “Soon we may be announcing exclusive content for the TeleOnce América platform,” she said.

TELEONCE AMÉRICA AVAILABLE ON MULTIPLE FAST PLATFORMS

Distribution of the FAST channel TeleOnce América is handled through Amagi Connect. Pellot noted they can also explore other arrangements to deliver the signal in the way that best suits each platform.

“Currently we are on 10 platforms, including Plex and Fawesome, but we would certainly like to bring our audience and signal to other platforms as well, including those focused on Spanish-language audiences in the U.S.,” she said.

CHALLENGES

Asked about the challenges of launching the channel, she explained that TeleOnce América is different from other FAST channels. “We air most of our content live on our FAST channel, starting from 6am to 10pm. Viewers of TeleOnce América are watching exactly the same programming we produce in Puerto Rico. Outside those hours we do include some library content, but our main goal is to deliver that live content,” she said.

There was also a technical challenge in synchronizing ad breaks with FAST channels, which tend to be shorter and more limited. “We worked closely with the Amagi technology team, which made it much easier to launch our FAST channel,” she added.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

She noted that TeleOnce América offers advertising opportunities for brands interested in reaching Puerto Rican and Hispanic audiences in the U.S.

“From each commercial break we retain a portion of time where we can insert advertising focused directly on U.S. markets, and we are very eager to work on different types of proposals. This is essentially a 24/7 channel where, if we need to make adjustments or tailor programming for that market, we have the ability to do so. Also to adapt to the needs of brands that want to reach that Puerto Rican and Hispanic community in the U.S.,” she concluded.
