Lionsgate will distribute Belleza across international television platforms outside the United States, including SVOD, cable, AVOD, FAST services, and Lionsgate’s owned and operated global channels
The Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group and Miércoles Entertainment, the newly launched company from Paul Presburger and the team behind Lionsgate’s Pantelion and Pantaya ventures, announced a partnership for the international television distribution of the Spanish-language feature film Belleza, a female-driven multigenerational drama/comedy which has just wrapped production in Colombia.
Under the agreement, Lionsgate will distribute Belleza across international television platforms outside the United States, including subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), cable, AVOD, FAST services, and Lionsgate’s owned and operated global channels. The collaboration marks the first title in a new slate of films from Miércoles Entertainment to be distributed by Lionsgate in the international TV marketplace, including additional films to be developed in collaboration with BH5 and Secuoya Studios.
Directed by Nadia Ayala Tabachnik, Belleza is produced by Rodrigo Trujillo of BH5 Studios and Secuoya Studios and was brought to the parties by the production and distribution consortium Globalgate, in which Lionsgate is partnered. The film will be theatrically released by Cinepolis who has also invested in the movie.
Produced by BH5 Studios and Miércoles Entertainment in coproduction with Secuoya Studios in association with Cinepolis and Globalgate, Belleza features a cast that includes Maite Perroni, Fernanda Castillo, Claudette Maille, Diego Klein, Arap Bethke, Antonia Giraldo, Johanna Murillo, Sabina Furuzawa, Sebastián García Huerta, Mónica Dionne and Arturo Ríos. The story is deeply rooted in female connection, self-acceptance, and empowerment.
“In Belleza, we see a film with strong theatrical potential for Mexican audiences, driven by a powerful cast, a relevant and emotionally resonant story, and a creative team with a clear understanding of the market,” said Miguel Mier, Cinépolis COO. “We are proud to support the film as theatrical distributor in Mexico and as an investment partner, and look forward to bringing it to audiences in theaters.”
“We’re excited to partner with Paul and the Miércoles team to bring Belleza to global audiences,” said Tyler Caldwell, Lionsgate SVP of International Television Distribution. “With its compelling, character-driven storytelling and strong audience appeal, the film is well positioned to resonate across multiple platforms internationally, and we look forward to building on this collaboration with future projects.”
“Lionsgate is a longstanding, exceptional partner with global distribution prowess and bespoke relationships across the television landscape,” said Presburger. “We’re thrilled to continue that relationship with Miércoles and to launch our slate with Belleza, a film with a powerful local voice and an outstanding cast led by Maite Perroni. For Miércoles productions, we only want to work with the very best. We put the project in the trusted hands of Rodrigo Trujillo and then sought the integral cooperation of Secuoya Studios and Cinepolis.”
“With Belleza, we are bringing together the great intellectual property and a creative vision designed for Mexican audiences, reinforcing our commitment to telling stories that resonate across cultures and transcend borders,” said Daniel Hernández Bocanegra, CEO Secuoya Studios Latam.
“This collaboration brings together some of the strongest creative, production, distribution, and exhibition partners in the industry. We are proud to have worked alongside Miércoles, Secuoya, Lionsgate, Globalgate and Cinepolis to bring Belleza to audiences and look forward to continuing to build stories with global reach and local authenticity,” said Rodrigo Trujillo, Producer and Founder of BH5 Studios.
