For Lisette Osorio, VP of International Business at Caracol Televisión, what struck her most about the Voces de la Calle format from Sierralta Entertainment was its authenticity.

“We are accustomed to talent formats in which people come looking for an opportunity. Here, it happens the other way around: we are the ones who go out into the streets to find talent that may have never thought they would have the chance to perform on a major stage. I find the idea of discovering someone in their real environment, where they sing every day, and accompanying them on that journey from anonymity to a professional stage very powerful. There is a very genuine and emotional transformation, and I believe that is where much of the connection with the audience comes from,” Osorio told PRODU.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE FORMAT

For Osorio, Voces de la Calle has several standout elements. The first is “that it has a very simple, universal and easily adaptable premise: talent can be found anywhere. It does not depend on celebrities or elaborate backstories; it depends on finding extraordinary voices and real people,” she said.

Another element the executive highlighted was the combination of two worlds — something she particularly likes. “It has the emotion and intimacy of discovering talent on the streets, but then incorporates the structure, competition and spectacle of a contemporary talent show.”

The third point she highlighted was its international appeal. “From an international perspective, I think it has a very attractive element: each country can make it completely its own. The streets, music, genres and stories change from one territory to another, but the emotion of discovery is universal. That gives it a very strong local identity while, at the same time, offering enormous potential as an international format,” she concluded.
