Tucho Milone
Tucho Milone studied at the Universidad de Cine (Film University) of Buenos Aires. He has been a cinema and photography fan since his childhood. He began shooting short films as a director of photography, which sparked his interest in stories and actors. It was not very long when he found himself at an advertising set and started directing. He filmed shorts that competed in festivals such as Locarno, San Pablo, and Chicago.
After a few years as a director at Concreto Films, he joined the CasAbierta Producciones directorial staff. He has worked with hundreds of brands including Garbarino, Correo Argentino, Liliana and Metrogas, GCBA, among others.
1. How can your signature and personality be observed in the pieces you film?
I think that in the way I treat the images so they look fresh, without any “cliché”. Using an audiovisual language that is always in a search and not static. Trying that every detail plays favoring the narrative and not just for the stiff and hard advertising frame.
2. What it is still lacking in your career as a director?
Continue learning all things regarding the new viral languages. And I would like to be able to shoot in inhospitable locations that can challenge me, not only because logistics but to experience new challenges.
3. What keeps you motivated when you arrive at a set?
That you always find something new. I love the adrenaline of thinking how to tell a story or how to make the most of the elements that encompass a set. I am also very encouraged by the human relationships generated by a creative team. The moment of happiness that you get in a nice shot, a product that looks perfect or a talent performance that moves due to its authenticity.
4. How has been your new experience with CasAbierta?
Beautiful. It is always nice and motivating to start projects from scratch. I found the perfect place to be able to express and work on my ideas with an incredible human group where we all pushing to the same side. We also began with a lot of work so I’m happy and feeling like at home.
5. Are you working in any fiction or documentary project currently?
I am currently working on a script for a feature film about couple relationships in times of social networks, and also sketching the first ideas for a viral documentary series about the Waldorf pedagogy in Buenos Aires.
6. Where is Tucho Milone heading?
Working to be able to shoot more and more and better. Thinking always in how to create a good climate on the set of the film and achieving the best audiovisual piece possible with the tools I have.
