Andres Restrepo of MADE: We sometimes just present ideas, but what’s great is creating them

Andres Restrepo, better known as “Lama,” was recently named creative VP of MADE. His view is clear, which is to create ideas and attract clients willing to take risks. “Sometimes we stick to existing ideas while looking for attractive ways to present them, but I think what’s most valuable is creating new ones. At MADE I can contribute a lot to the big clients it already has, and which quite rightly are looking to grow by means of the execution of ideas and creativity. But at the same time I look for those that think differently,” he said. As for the creative process, Lama describes himself as a person who clings to strategies and structure. Another of his objectives is to present the work of each member of the MADE team who made sure that every step of that strategy was respected. “We have artists, illustrators, announcers. Part of MADE’s vision is to help build the career of each and every one in this team of artists, while as an agency we seek to contribute to their professional growth,” he said. Restrepo expressed enthusiasm and ambition about launching his work on the Mexican market. He sees this as a country that offers challenges and chances to grow, and acknowledges the excellent performance of his Colombian colleagues in this country.Among these challenges and chances to grow, Restrepo looks for clients willing to take risks. “What’s most beautiful about working for an independent agency is that we can do everything completely differently. So we hope to work with clients who are looking for exactly the same thing. And I’m not just talking about their interest in the creative area, but the possibility that they’re looking for a completely different model that we can adapt. In the end, big agencies look very much like one another in terms of their structures, but what we want is to create structures that suit the client 100 percent. For example, if a client doesn’t need copy or layouts but does need journalists, he can count on our team to provide the required content. These are unique structures,” he said.
