Somos TV, which already has in the U.S. Hispanic market the signals ViendoMovies and Semillitas, will launch the third pay-TV channel in its portfolio by the second quarter of 2012.The new channel will cater to male audiences, a segment neglected in the Hispanic market.PRODU spoke to Luis Villanueva, CEO and president of Somos TV, about the plan for the new signal.“The channel has already negotiated top-quality content and we’re finalizing the programming grid and some elements of the on-air look. We expect to be up and running by second quarter this year, and our clients will be able to evaluate what we think is an excellent product for a very profitable market segment. The demographic and the rationale behind the channel are impeccable, so we expect it will be received well,” said Villanueva.ViendoMovies and Semillitas are already in the process of expanding distribution despite their young age.ViendoMovies had a very successful 2011, achieving important changes in its brand and on-air look.“We are very happy with Semillitas in this first 18 months. The channel is currently distributed by Comcast, Verizon, Cablevision, Charter Communications, RCN, Choice Cable, and affiliates of NCTC. We’re negotiating other affiliate contracts and introducing it to more markets. We have high expectations for 2012,” added Villanueva.
