Telemundo news anchor José Díaz Balart to be honored with the 2012 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Hispanic television

Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News have announced that José Díaz Balart will be the 2012 recipient of their time-honored and distinguished award for Outstanding Achievement in Hispanic Television. This recognition will be presented to the acclaimed nightly news anchor of Noticiero Telemundo and Telemundos Sunday morning program, Enfoque, during the Awards Luncheon at the Tenth Annual Hispanic Television Summit, to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square of New York City on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.Mr. Díaz Balart is being recognized for his extraordinary commitment to communicate the news to both English and Spanish speakers, alike, and especially for his ability to focus on news that is important to all Latino television viewers, said Louis Hillelson, the Group Publisher for the two publications.After nearly 30 years working as a journalist, this recognition constitutes a profound honor. I have long believed that unless people are aware of their rights, they cannot exercise them.
