Televisa: We launched Blim as Televisa’s first non-linear pay TV platform

Televisa launched on Monday 22 its new OTT platform for Mexico and Latin America, called Blim with more than 13 thousand hours of content and which they use to face technological trends in distribution and consumption.In an interview with PRODU, Bruce Boren, VP, Televisa Networks, mentioned that it is Televisa’s first non-linear pay TV platform: “The entire region can see the contents simultaneously. We will gradually modify our programming patterns and the way we do things. We will have original productions exclusively made for this platforms, as third parties. This will be an important differentiator and a proposal of added value to what is already out in the market”, he explained.Carlos Sandoval, Blim general director, for his part, stated that as of Monday, February 22nd, it is available in all mobile devices with Android/iOS and they are already developing the application for Smart TV’s as well as for Xbox, PlayStation and Apple TV to be launched at some point in the next three months.“The service can be enjoyed on two screens at once and Televisa’s content eventually will be exclusively for this platform. We have agreements with distributors of original content, of Spanish productions such as Carlos Emperador, as well as the James Bond license with its 24 films in exclusivity for Latin America”, announced Sandoval. To end, they commented that the products Televisa currently has on other platforms such as Netflix, will be exhibited exclusively on Blim once the contracts have ended.
