Global drama producers Fremantle and Fabula’s hit Spanish-language psychological thriller, La Jauría have been acquired by WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, HBO Max.

The deal with Fremantle will see the series launch on the platform, under the name La Jauría (The Pack), to US audiences on 16th December 2020.

The 8×60’ series tells the story of the disappearance of a young girl in a Catholic school who stages a protest and unwittingly becomes the center of a police investigation. The investigation exposes a deadly online game which recruits men to commit acts of aggression toward women, brought to light when a video of the young girl’s own assault goes viral after she vanishes.

The series stars Daniela Vega (A Fantastic Woman) and Antonia Zegers (Fugitivos), along with Mariana Digirolamo (Ema, Pituca sin Lucas), Antonia Giesen (Ema, Inés del alma mía), Paula Luchsinger (Ema, Tranquilo Papá), Alberto Guerra (El Señor de los Cielos, Ingobernable), Marcelo Alonso (The Club) and Francisco Reyes (Dónde Está Elisa).

Sheila Aguirre, EVP of Content Distribution and Format Sales, Latin America, International, Fremantle, who brokered the deal with HBO Max, said: “We are extremely proud to be partnering with HBO Max for La Jauría. It’s a gripping, compelling, and timely drama that addresses important topical issues regarding the epidemic of violence against women. We are confident HBO’s audience will be moved by the standout storyline and the powerful performances from the outstanding cast.”

Angela Poblete, Regional Head of the TV at Fabula said: “We are thrilled that the first season of La Jauría is finding new audiences around the world and we are delighted that HBO Max has chosen our series for their platform in the United States. We hope that it will be as well received in the US as it was in Latin America.”

The series is directed by the acclaimed Lucía Puenzo (The German Doctor and Cromo), and produced by Fabula and Fremantle, along with Argentine company Kapow as associate producer, in partnership with Chilean pubcaster TVN and the Consejo Nacional de Televisión (CNTV). Executive producers on the series are Fremantle’s Christian Vesper, Fabula’s Juan de Dios and Pablo Larraín, Ángela Poblete, and Juan Ignacio Correa. The series is distributed globally by Fremantle. Fremantle has sold the series to 73 territories worldwide, including SBS (Australia), ARTE (France, Germany, German-speaking Switzerland and Austria), COSMOTE TV (Greece), Manoto TV (MENA), CANAL+ Poland (Poland), VIASAT (Russia), Movie Generation TV (Croatia), BluTV (Turkey) and Mola TV (Indonesia).

Amazon Prime Video holds the rights to the series in Latin America and Spain.
