Nueva Distribucion OTT y VOD Para Produccion Cine y TV

iKaBron Productions has among its most recent projects for OTT and VOD platforms, two films made in 2019, and one of them will have its debut in 2020.

“With iKaBron we are focused on digital content, both for the channels and the OTT to make films. Since last year we started with a business model to do cinema with very good actors and stories at affordable prices” said Alfonso “Poncho” de Anda, founding partner and director of iKaBron Productions and partner of iKarToons. He added that 80% of OTT consumption is for cinema.

De Anda participated in the panel “New OTT and VOD distribution for cinema and TV productions” in the second day of NEXTV CEO LatAm, together with Sergio Pizzolante, General Director of CTMOBS; Ariel Tobi, CEO of Snap TV and Joe Fregoso, Business Development for the Americas at Mediagenix.

For his part, Tobi commented that they use the co-production model to cater to the pool of platforms. “Everyone is in the original production race. Our group (Hemisphere) participates in this business through Cinelatino on pay-TV and with Pantaya on SVOD ” he said. He added that their Latino products have increasingly higher quality. “Latino content -these thousands of premium hours- still doesn´t have an international distribution network like American producers. That is where the challenge lies,” he expressed.

Pizzolante agrees that the challenge for the industry is to align sales that aim at a global market.

Tobi mentioned that in this transition that has taken place in the last 15 years, 60% of the income comes from pay-TV, from good windowing, and then a “very small” percentage for open TV remains when in the past it used to be the opposite.

Fregoso, on the other hand, explained that the business model is changing and there will be income redistribution agreements.
