Studying the Lee Strasberg method

The actress Elyfer Torres was surprised by the pandemic when she was on tour in Brazil promoting the series Betty in NY that has been very well accepted in that market. She explained that she tried to return to Los Angeles where she recently moved to do auditions and projects in English, but she had to go to her hometown in Mexico because flights had been canceled.

In Mexico, she used the opportunity to enroll in the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, since she admires actors trained in this method.

“I think it is magical to find new tools from this method that I can incorporate to my art that is acting,” explained Torres. She is additionally practicing English and learning how to cook.

She announced that is actively promoting Betty in NY that is on Peacock, and Enemigo Íntimo 2 on Telemundo. “We are doing more self-tapes and phone meetings,” and as a result, a new project arose with a character she is excited about. “We will soon start shooting,” she said.

One of Torres´ dreams is to be part of the catalog of the new Peacock service NBCUniversal is offering, “as one of the contents in Spanish and Spanglish, that is something very notorious in Betty; to reach a new generation that doesn´t watch traditional television very much. Now, with the pandemic, it is very ‘marathonable’,” she added

For after the pandemic, she feels that theater is going to be the hardest to recover, due to the intimacy and nearness it requires.

“It is necessary to explore many ways until we find one in which we can still feel this connection and intimacy between characters that is the most important thing to convey to the viewer,” she ended.
