Kate Presutti de LatinWE
Kate Presutti, LatinWE’s new EVP of Development, whose main focus is to tell Latin American stories for global consumption, said that inspiration for this content can come from a wide range of sources: from written articles to creators who can be directors, authors, or influencers, among others and develop a format around them.
They are already producing a project for fall and they should have something ready by 2022, “maybe more than one project,” she said.
LatinWE has a “wonderful” general agreement with NBCU for TV, both for scripted and unscripted projects, she recalled. “Regarding scripted we are looking for global stories from Latin America that are relatable, address serious issues but with an angle of lightness that make the audience feel good.” While in relation to unscripted they’re seeking out a wide range of formats that include strong women, both in front and behind the cameras.
“We are specifically seeking out content that has nothing to do with drug trafficking, to tell other stories that are important to Latino culture and also to its music,” she said.
Presutti, who for the first time is working on the Latin side of the industry, highlights that she is moved by the vulnerability and access to the stories they are going to address. “I think there is a real appetite for authenticity and I am eager to address such topics in the Latin American world, especially with the millennials,” she said.
