Euronews shifted its strategy in the region to target local audiences in Latin America. “We reformed our network and, instead of having the same video with 12 audios in different languages -French, English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Arabic-, now each language has its own news channel,” explained Sarah Mimouni, Distribution Manager for Latin America & Euronews Out of Home (OOH).

Mimouni highlights that they are offering news dedicated to Latin America and to Spanish speakers throughout the world. “Euronews provides international breaking news in Spanish, not just news about Europe,” she said.

They are developing new business models that allow Euronews to be relevant, both for cable, ISP, or DTH operators, as well as in any digital medium, smart TVs, or applications.

“In order to have more presence in Latin America, our HD channel in Spanish is available on Intelsat 11, but we continue to provide our content through different delivery modes such as MRSS, SRT, or HLS,” she said.

Mimouni noted that the biggest advantage Euronews has versus the competition is its independence. “Compared to its competitors, Euronews is the only news network that is not related to any political party, meaning that the news provided is neutral and allows the public to form their own opinion. By being available in Spanish, we speak directly to the public. It is the best way to attract viewers since they feel directly involved in the news provided,” she said.
