Carla Gonzalez de Gato Grande

Carla González, CEO, Gato Grande, who was also part of the PRODU Webinar on Mexican women who have succeeded in the industry, said that young people, who are moving audiences and dictating trends, are tired of the usual female stereotypes, no matter the gender of the consumer.

In addition, platforms are increasingly looking for female content, which she said is the trend now commercially, “there is a lot of demand”. The same is happening with women behind the scenes, female directors and screenwriters are busier than ever, and that fills me with optimism,” González said.

The executive also reported that currently in the US there is a lot of interest for equality issues, especially regarding gender, and there are many opportunities for women in the audiovisual industry, and if it is Latin American, even more.

Regarding the difference between the leadership of men and women, González expressed that women have a more comprehensive leadership. ”We see employees in a way that only women know. As women we offer incentives to enhance personal life within work. So you end up having a happier team that endures on the long term.”

She also mentioned details about her employees at Gato Grande, where the ratio of men and women is 50-50, unlike MGM (Gato Grande’s mother company), where the staff and senior executives are mostly men. “This is also changing at MGM, but more slowly.”
