For Germán González, president of Emax Group Corp., producers of the 2021 Monitor Music Awards show, the event has achieved a very high production standard. “We are showing the different countries within the awards,” he pointed out. He highlights that this second edition is “unique because of the wide distribution in open TV multiple territories. Only Argentina, the only market where it will not be on open TV, will be broadcast on Claro TV.”

Last year’s edition was broadcast in the US by Galavisión as a pilot test. The event was 70% virtual and 30% face-to-face, and the different hosts made the main broadcast from Playa del Carmen, Mexico. While Univision Puerto Rico and Grupo Albavisión also broadcast it for all Latin America.

“The project was a success for the network and this year the main idea is to have productions in each location: Guadalajara, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and the control for the rest of the countries will take place from the Paramount Miami Worldcenter,” explains González. This year UniMás will be broadcasting the show in the US, and also for the next three years.

He said that for this year’s show – which airs on October 17 – they have already started pre-producing some segments: in Guadalajara with Los Dos Carnales and El Fantasma, and in Los Angeles with the group Firme. They already have recorded stars like Natti Natasha, Becky G., Cristian Nodal, Marco Antonio Solís, and Pepe Aguilar, among others. The prerecord method is based on the limitations imposed by the pandemic.

The show goes into post-production in September and, in October, they will deliver it ready to broadcast to Univision and the 23 channels and platforms that will air it in the region.

For 2022 the show will be live, from Hard Rock Live in Miami, with conferences and broadcasts from Colombia, Panama, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
