Venezuelan-Mexican co-production Jezabel by director Hernán Jabes will be introduced at the 39th Annual Miami Film Festival

AG Films is presenting Jezabel, under the direction of Hernán Jabes (Piedra, Papel o Tijera) and produced by Adrián Geyer. The film is an adaptation of the original crime novel by Venezuelan writer Eduardo Sánchez Rugeles, a thriller that speaks of a society in decadence and a spark of light in the midst of darkness. Jezabel is a Venezuelan-Mexican co-production.
Next Thursday the 10th, with a Red Carpet event the film will be introduced at the 39th edition of the Miami Film Festival.
Jezabel belongs to a series of black novels published by Vertigo; in fact, it is the author’s first experiment with the genre.
“This is a story about memory and oblivion, about what we choose to forget as a defense mechanism, but that cannot be erased. My collaboration with Hernán Jabes, director of the film, was fluid, spontaneous, and playful. To visually conceive the story, we talked a lot about the decadent futurism of Venezuela in 2033, the darkness that the film required, and its color palette. And all the credit for that sinister and ominous landscape goes to Gerard Uzcátegui, our Director of Photography. Is obvious that Hernán gave him the guideline, but he did the job,” said Sánchez.
The film stars are Gabriel Agüero as Alain Barral, Eliane Chipia as Eliana Bloom, Shakti Maal as Carmen Casas, Johanna Juliethe as Lorena López, and Erich Wildpred as Salvador Grasso. Diana Volpe, Armando Cabrera and María Conchita Alonso are also part of the cast. The Photography direction was in the hands of Gerard Uzcátegui; the Art direction, Alfredo Correia, with music by Tomás Barreiro and songs by the Venezuelan band Famasloop.
