Carlos Quintanilla de Sony

Carlos Quintanilla, VP of Original Content at Sony Pictures Television, commented in MIP Cancun on what it means to him to work on the fourth season of Rosario Tijeras since he wrote the first season.

One of the keys he revealed is that they are going back to the origins of this production to find what connected it with the audience the way it did, bearing in mind, however, that the audience has changed. “We are facing an audience that consumes different things, which is why we are working hard together with the writers, in addition to the talent, because no one knows Rosario Tijeras better than the actress that played that role. For this reason, we set up working groups and are working on tricks I cannot reveal, but that appeal to the return to its origin, seeking the keys that worked well in Rosario Tijeras 1, as well as in other seasons” he explained, after commenting that they want to surprise and thrill.
The fourth season is well advanced in terms of the development process, but he stated that he cannot say anything in advance about casting choices and production start dates.

He commented that there is no right way to undertake stories, and the key to success, he explained, is for them to come from the heart, “that they move you and make you want to tell those stories” he said, after mentioning that his most successful projects come from the desire to tell a story, more than thinking about the industry. “The first filter is creative, and of course, after that, you must think about what audience it is aimed for. Another important tip is to seek authenticity in your story” he added.

Regarding Casados Con Hijos, he expressed that they are very happy with this project. “We are developing an important comedy line, trying to recover large Sony IPs that can be relevant nowadays and see how we can develop original content from new experiences. We continue generating melodramas that can be interesting” he explained.
