Miss Hivaria simboliza, en un país, la contingencia de 35 millones de personas infectadas con el virus del VIH
The Florida International University (FIU), known as a leading voice in the development of initiatives to raise awareness of risk reduction in the US state, in collaboration with the Mixto Foundation, Mixto Music and Dieste, has launched its first awareness campaign on HIV especially for adolescents and young adults.”The evidence shows that school-based sex education can be effective in changing knowledge, attitudes and practices that lead to risky behavior,” UNICEF said, in relation to published data that shows that the number of HIV-infected has decreased. The initiative, officially launched last January 20th, brings to life Miss Hivaria, candidate for a beauty pageant representing a fictitious republic. This country clearly improvised, symbolizes the contingency of 35 million people infected with the HIV virus worldwide. In fact, if the Republic of Hivaria were a real country, it would be larger than Australia, Portugal, Hong Kong, Venezuela, and Ireland, to name a few.The awareness initiative has two main pillars, which consist of activities on the campus of the institution, including free trials by Union Positiva, and a component of social media. The campaign is also on social networks, where it can be followed and learn more about their activities through: {Instagram;http://instagram.com/miss_hivaria/}, {Facebook;https://www.facebook.com/MissHivaria} and {Twitter;https://twitter.com/MissHivaria}.
