Linkedin bought Newsle to reinforce their bet for content

Linkedin, the social network aimed at professionals and businesses, acquired the Newsle platform. With this system, Linkedin be able to find people in blogs, articles and news in seconds and then notify the data found, providing a broader context for its users.“LinkedIn and Newsle share a common goal: They want to provide professional knowledge to make people feel better at what they do. For example, knowing more about the people in your network, as they appear on the news, to help generate a meeting with them out of this” Ryan Roslansky, Linkedin’s director of Product Content, said.Meanwhile, the founders of Newsle, Jonah Varon and Axel Hansen, said that talent is also part of the acquisition and that engineers will work in the new search engine for the social network.In this regard, Roslansky said: “That’s why I’m so excited to welcome Jonah Varon, Axel Hansen and the rest of Newsle to the LinkedIn family… to combine this technology with our main assets and continue creating experiences to make many more professionals productive and successful.””Over the past three years, Newsle used their disambiguation algorithms and natural language processing to build a product that is extremely compelling that finds blogs and articles when mentioned and notifies it seconds after they have been posted,” they said.Newsle’s users will continue using the platform normally.
