Walmart recently met with about 200 marketing executives to discuss Walmart Exchange (WMX), a platform orientation, buying and digital optimization that will include everything from sales data to social network data to consider spending plans for Walmart and its suppliers.”We will bring many more tools that our suppliers will use with Walmart to do digital marketing more effective” Stephen Quinn, Walmart’s marketing VP, said. “If we think of P&G and Samsung, their strategy allows them to see that is actually having an impact on Walmart and it can accelerate real-time reports. It’s practically a holy grail for marketers,” he added.‘’WMX is the method of Walmart for applying big data to marketing and use data shopping of {Walmart;www.Walmart.com} and the physical store, plus third-party data and social media platforms,’’ Wanda Young, VP of Marketing and Digital Media, said.The media company Walmart, MediaVest, is working with WMX in buying digital ads, but it remains unclear if the store will be involved in shopping for any of its suppliers.”The big bet we are doing is that we can eventually get to most of the media in one form or another, and this capacity and infrastructure will only help to increase in value for us,” Quinn concluded.
