Ford Motor Company and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) are working together to launch a new series of events to take orchestral music to the neighborhoods of Detroit.DSO on the Go with Fordwill feature 10 free presentations of DSO musicians in Detroit. The first performance of bass player Michael Ke Ma, and cellist David LeDoux in the Ford and Engagement Resource Center (FREC) in Detroit Mexicantown neighborhood.”Ford Motor Company has been generously helping DSO to reach new audiences since 1930, when the company sponsored our live radio broadcasts,” Anne Parsons, DSO President and CEO, said.”DSO is one of the cultural gems that make our great city and we are excited to have their acclaimed musicians playing live throughout the neighborhoods of Detroit,” Jim Vella, president of Ford Motor Company Fund, said.Five members of the woodwind section of the DSO recently visited the Ford plant in Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, where they interpreted the Contrapunctus IX of Johann Sebastian Bach, while new Focus and C-MAX cars were out of the line of assembly. Earlier this year, Ford supported the series of HD free webcasts, Live From Orchestra Hall of the DSO.Ford has provided the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with more than $ 17 million as a support over the past 20 years.
