Carlos Vasallo, CEO of América TeVé and América CV Network, as well as president of the pay TV signals Cine Nostalgia and Cine Estelar in the US, was recognized with the Título de Excelencia and an Extraordinary Award by the Asociación de Empresarios Gallegos in Cataluña (Association of Galician Entrepreneurs) Saturday July 8, for his achievements in the international entertainment industry for more than 50 years in Spain, Mexico and the US.

For the entrepreneur, who has been in theater, cinema, and TV since he was 14, migrating at a very young age to Mexico, this acknowledgment means that opposite poles are currently connected, allowing those in Latin America to know what they are doing thanks to the Internet.

“We fear that the Excellence title is awarded because of our age, but it is not true, this is a recognition for something very important,” said Vasallo, adding: “This is a recognition by our own people, those from our own land. It is the most difficult one to achieve… I am proud and satisfied that our people are recognized.”

Regarding plans for 2018, he commented that his intention is to go from 4.5 hours of news a day to 9. “We want to generate a new channel that is for news, to be distributed throughout all Latin America and the US, from Miami, the current capital of the Americas.”

Vasallo reminded us that they are the only independent Hispanic channel in the US in South Florida that produces 10 hours of TV in direct. “We are a unique case. The programs TN3 or A Fondo with Sevcec or the 10pm newscast, many days are leaders in their schedule slots in the entire South Florida, slots in which we are number one over Univision, Telemundo, UniMás, etc. When we are not number one, we are two, sometimes three. We are in the struggle.”
