The Administration Board of Grupo Televisa, S.A.B. announced on Thursday the designation of Bernardo Gómez and Alfonso de Angoitia as executive co-presidents of Televisa, reporting directly to the Administration Board.

Emilio Azcárraga Jean will continue leading long-term strategy development in the company, in the position of Executive President of the Administration Board. Azcárraga will continue to have direct responsibility for Grupo Televisa´s Soccer Division, as well as Fundación Televisa.

These changes will enter in effect on January 1st, 2018.

“Our industry is going through a very important transformation that presents big challenges to us, but even bigger opportunities. For more than two decades, and for critical periods in our business, Bernardo and Alfonso have proven to be executives with great commitment and dedication and their contributions to Televisa exceed the position they occupy. Their new duties and leadership will allow me to focus on the company´s long-term strategy,” highlighted Azcárraga.

“Together we will seek to continue positioning Televisa to perform successfully in this changing competitive environment,” expressed Gómez and Angoitia.

Gómez´ and de Angoitia´s participation was key to achieve the successful restructuring of Televisa´s capital when the new group, led by Azcárraga, took control over the company in 1997. The most successful decisions that have transformed Televisa, and have been led by Gómez and de Angoitia, include the renegotiation of the Programming Licensing Agreement with Univision, for which the company receives important revenue in dollars; the acquisition and consolidation of four cable operations; as well as the diversification of Televisa beyond the traditional TV advertising sales, actively participating in the telecommunications service industry, which represents more than 50% of the company’s consolidated sales.
