Seven out of ten of Colombia’s most-watched Prime Video series come from Estudios RCN

Betty La Fea, La Historia Continúa is one of Estudios RCN's most successful recent productions
RCN productions have successfully adapted to the digital age, garnering impressive viewership. Currently, seven of the ten most-watched series on Prime Video in Colombia bear the RCN seal.
One such series is Darío Gómez, El Rey del Despecho, produced by Estudios RCN and released directly on Prime Video on October 9th. This series, inspired by the popular music singer whose name it bears, is currently the most-watched series on the OTT platform in Colombia, according to data from Flix Patrol. Additionally, the project, directed by Luis Sierra and Juan Carlos Mazo, remains in the top 10 in countries such as Chile, Jamaica, and Panama.
In recent years, RCN has strengthened its partnership with Amazon, leading to the acquisition of content such as “Yo soy Betty, la fea.” Despite its longevity, the RCN-produced telenovela is currently the second most-watched series on the platform. Originally aired on the RCN channel between 1999 and 2001, Yo soy Betty, la fea joined Prime Video in November 2022 and is now the number one series in 14 countries, including Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.
This demonstrates the enduring appeal of the story penned by Fernando Gaitán and starring Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello. Over the years, the telenovela has been broadcast in more than 180 countries and has inspired 28 adaptations.
La Ley del Corazón ranks fourth on the list. Directed by Sergio Osorio and Víctor Mallarino, this telenovela originally aired on RCN between November 2016 and June 2017. It joined Prime Video in April 2021 and currently remains in the top 10 in 11 countries, including Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Paraguay. The series has also been acquired by television channels in other regions, such as RAI 2 in Italy, where it will premiere in November 2024.
La Ley del Corazón 2 occupies the sixth position. This sequel aired on RCN between September 2017 and April 2019. Since then, it has been acquired by channels such as Telemundo (in 2019) and Canal IVC in Venezuela (in 2021).
RECENT SERIES STILL AT THE FOREFRONT
Seventh place is occupied by Rigo, a bioseries produced by Estudios RCN for Prime Video, inspired by the life of cyclist Rigoberto Urán. It premiered on October 9, 2023, and aired on the RCN channel until April 15, 2024. Since its release, it has also been available on the OTT platform, where it has solidified its popularity in other nations such as Honduras, El Salvador, and Panama.
Betty la Fea, la Historia Continua, occupies the eighth position. This sequel to the original telenovela was produced by Estudios RCN and premiered exclusively on Prime Video on July 19, 2024. On July 29th, it was renewed for a second season and remains in the top 10 in 17 countries, including Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
The second season of Manes concludes in ninth place. Similar to the first installment, it was released directly on Prime Video on September 11th. Written by Daniel Ayala López and Diego Ayala López and directed by Juan Carlos Mazo, this series remains in the top 10 in countries such as Hong Kong, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Egypt.
