Luis Torres-Bohl, president of Castalia Communications: "We have many projects in mind and a lot of developments that we believe will be very positive"

Mexicanal, in addition to celebrating its 20th anniversary on October 5 this year, is engaged in several co-productions, including partnerships with The Cowboy Channel, AYM, and Mexican state-owned broadcasters such as TV4.

Furthermore, Mexicanal and RMVISTAR are collaborating on a true crime series, Agencia de Investigación Criminal. “We have many projects in mind and a lot of developments that we believe will be very positive,” Luis Torres-Bohl, president of Castalia Communications, told PRODU.

He added that Mexicanal will launch on Rogers in Canada during the second quarter of this year, expanding its current distribution in the country through Bell Canada.

LLAMADA PELUCHE WITH CLAN

Torres-Bohl mentioned that, after years of commercial collaboration with RTVE’s Clan, they have developed and are producing several programs for the channel from San Luis Potosí, Mexicanal’s headquarters. “We are about to complete a production called Llamada Peluche, a project that has been very successful in Spain. Clan is the number one children’s channel in Spain, surpassing Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney, because they emphasize family relationships,” he highlighted.

He also noted that they renewed their contract with RTVE, continuing their extensive work in U.S. distribution. “We keep renewing agreements with major MVPDs such as Charter, and DISH, among others,” he stated.

NEW VENTURES: ZDF CRIMEN

Torres-Bohl revealed that the FAST channel ZDF Crimen, created in partnership with Germany’s ZDF Studios, is about to launch. “We have a commitment of 450 hours with ZDF. We are starting the channel with around 120 to 150 hours, all dubbed into Spanish, aiming to offer a unique experience for viewers using FAST channels through major platforms, where we expect to be available soon,” he said.

The channel will launch in the first quarter of the year, with several distribution agreements already secured, which will be announced soon. The pre-launch began in January.

Additionally, Castalia is developing a new venture with BBC News, a signal reaching 17 million households in Latin America. “This is a significant achievement, considering that it represents nearly a third of all English-speaking households, demonstrating people’s trust in this news source,” he concluded.
