José Alberto Castro of TelevisaUnivision: “With Los Hilos Del Pasado, We’re Betting On A Contemporary Visual Narrative”

Los Hilos del Pasado, produced by TelevisaUnivision, held its official presentation ahead of its premiere this Monday, October 27, at 9:30pm on Las Estrellas. The production by José Alberto Castro marks the return of Yadhira Carrillo to telenovelas, under the direction of Salvador Garcini and Luis Manzo, in a story filled with reunions and secrets.
During the event, Castro shared his feelings about this open TV premiere after the show had already aired on Univision and ViX: “I’m very excited, very happy, eager to finally have it here at home. Also at my home in the U.S., which is Univision, but now we’re bringing it here. It’s the first time I’ve had this kind of rollout — across different platforms before arriving here.”
A STORY OF REUNIONS AND SECRETS
The story follows Carolina (Yadhira Carrillo), a successful fashion designer who faces a painful secret: the young woman she despises, Cristina (Bárbara López), is actually the daughter she abandoned 20 years ago. Amid lies and truths, Carolina will seek to atone for her mistakes.
“I’m very happy with the result. I know it’s doing really well on Univision. People who have watched it on ViX Premium have given great feedback,” said the producer. “Many ask me, ‘Has she found her daughter yet?’ I’m really happy and grateful.”

INTERNATIONAL LOCATIONS
Castro highlighted the telenovela’s visual ambition: “You’ll see a cast full of incredible talent. We brought together a wonderful ensemble. We filmed in Italy — in Milan, Lake Como — then in Miami and the Mexican Caribbean. You’ll find a unique visual landscape and a great story.”
INNOVATION IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS
For Castro, the key to success lies in the constant evolution of production methods:
“Today, we no longer produce thinking only of broadcast TV. Every project must be conceived with a multiplatform vision from the start. Los Hilos del Pasado was designed to connect with both traditional audiences and digital ones, because the industry is no longer measured by distribution windows, but by experiences.”
The producer also emphasized the importance of the technical work behind the story:
“We took great care with every detail — the art direction, wardrobe, and cinematography — to give the story a cinematic touch. We’re betting on a more contemporary visual narrative that preserves the essence of the melodrama but speaks in a language that resonates with new generations and international markets.”

Los Hilos del Pasado is an adaptation of a story by Delia Fiallo, with a script by Liliana Abud and an adaptation by José Alberto Castro and Vanesa Varela.
The theme song, Los Hilos del Pasado, was composed by Fernanda Castro and Gelin Hau, and performed by Cristian Castro and Fernanda Castro.
