ViX and JK Media Group Strengthen the Sin Filtro Franchise with the Premiere of Chiquis Season Two

Chiquis presented the second season of Chiquis Sin Filtro for ViX in Mexico City

ViX premiered the second season of Chiquis Sin Filtro, a JK Media Group production, on Friday, March 20. This new chapter has become a catharsis for the singer, allowing audiences to discover Janney—the woman behind the star—in a 12-episode installment where she will address very personal topics such as motherhood.

HOW IS AUTHENTICITY ACHIEVED IN THE SIN FILTRO FORMAT?

Producer Sebastián Jiménez of JK Media Group explained that the platform’s trust and the artist’s openness were key to achieving this season: “This season has 12 episodes; the first had 10. Out of eight months of production, 36 days were actual footage. It was a major transition in terms of who Chiquis is. The first season ended with her getting married, so in the second we see much more of her as a married woman and her husband,” said Jiménez.

For her part, the singer emphasized that this project is her most honest connection with her audience: “I want to show more than Chiquis—the person people know—I want to show Janney, the woman behind the music, behind everything I do. I let them into my heart, into my marriage; I keep that more private now and don’t share as much on social media, so this series is my way of staying connected with my followers,” she said.

The producer noted that the production team shapes the narrative through strategic planning based on the artist’s real life. He explained that the process begins with a long-term vision to identify key milestones:

“We sit down with the artist in the first meeting and look at what they have coming up over the next 9 to 12 months. We create a calendar of both their professional and personal events, and from there we build the stories based on their real life,” he detailed.

AN ORGANIC PRODUCTION ACROSS THREE COUNTRIES

The series does not rely on structured scripts, but rather on real-life situations captured in France, the U.S., and Mexico. Jiménez explained that production work is based on a real-life schedule: “There are bullet points of what will be filmed, and the situations are real. In many scenes she receives calls from her siblings or her manager and takes them during dinner; it’s captured and used in a very organic way.”

Chiquis admitted that the filming process was emotionally challenging, especially when addressing health and motherhood:

“The hardest thing to share was the topic of becoming a mother and my physical and emotional fears. I know it’s a big responsibility, and I hadn’t addressed it because I hadn’t healed from my childhood. I didn’t know how to say it, but we went through therapy and that’s when the cameras came in, because this is my truth and I decided to share it.”

THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE ON VIX

The success of the series points to new installments, driven by the singer’s active personal and professional life. Jiménez envisions a long run for the format on the platform thanks to the artist’s evolution: “She’s already told me about certain things that will happen next year. I believe, of course, Chiquis is very young, newly married, wants to be a mother, is releasing a new album, going on tour, and has many businesses and investments that always give us something to talk about. She’s a character who can give us several seasons.”

Meanwhile, the strong reception of the format has established Sin Filtro as a strategic franchise for ViX. The producer confirmed they are already working on similar new productions: “We did Gloria Trevi Sin Filtro, two seasons of Chiquis Sin Filtro. We’re working on a new artist that ViX will announce soon, and we have two more artists in development who are very strong in Mexico.”

In addition to the reality series, JK Media Group already has two seasons of Foodie on the Go available on ViX—a travel and food format—and plans to begin filming a third season in July.
