Ingobernable (15×60′), which premiered on Friday, March 24, will reach more than 190 countries and 96 million homes through the Netflix platform, and its producer, Epigmenio Ibarra, CEO of Argos, assured that OTT platforms are the best option to air content with topics that are freer.

When presenting the first episode in Mexico, he stated: “We made Ingobernable (Ungovernable) thinking that if there were more ungovernable women, the world would be better. We did it in these times of darkness and hatred, to heighten, strengthen and support the struggle of women who refuse to remain silent, who are not bullied, and who never give up. And also to talk about the decomposition of power, a truth that is unfortunately universal.”

In the event were Diego Ávalos, Original Production director at Netflix in Latin America and Kelly Luegenbiehl, “Creative head of our team and part of this story’s soul,” as Ávalos introduced her. He promised more investment in Mexico and announced a space for stand-up comedians soon.

Epigmenio explained that the shooting took place in Mexico, whereas the main character´s scenes (Kate del Castillo) were shot in the US, due to her legal situation: “This caused an increase in the production cost. However, we chose Kate because she is ungovernable.”

To end, Verónica Velasco said that in the series, the role that the country´s first ladies have played would be questioned: “It is a story to be read between the lines and that ponders upon women´s roles, if there are actually first or second ladies”.

The series was created by Epigmenio Ibarra, Verónica Velasco and Natasha Ybarra-Klor. Ibarra and Velasco are also the executive producers, whereas the main scriptwriter and executive co-producer of the series is Ybarra-Klor.
