Comarex: Azteca has great confidence in the pay-TV business

Marcel Vinay Jr., CEO of Comarex, confirmed to PRODU at Jornadas, the creation of a new division: AZ TV de Paga, which includes channels: AZ Mundo (formerly Azteca Internacional); AZ Corazón (formerly Azteca Novelas), which the company supplied with more programming and more original content; AZClic, for young audiences; and AZ Cinema, with Mexican films of all times.“This changes came about because Azteca has great confidence in the pay-TV business and we want to see it grow. In addition to this, Azteca is producing increasingly more and higher quality content. We have over 1,800 hours of original productions including talk shows, interviews, variety, fictions, and entertainment,” said Vinay.He explained that the Southern Cone is a very important market for the company and that it came to Jornadas to officially introduce the new channels. Several operators are currently carrying the channels, and the short-term goal is to increase the number of channels and the number of cable operators carrying them.In regards to new services, Vinay said the company has some projects, but it’s focused on growing the traditional pay-TV operation.
